IMRT Prostate Cancer Treatment

At Integrated Cancer Care, we are committed to delivering the highest quality patient care to our prostate cancer patients.

While treatment of prostate cancer may include surgery, radiation, or both, radiation therapy is often used to slow, stop, or kill cancer cells in a targeted area. It may be used to treat early-stage, advanced, or recurring prostate cancer. For those with slow-growing prostate cancer, radiation treatment may be preferable to surgery.

At Integrated Cancer Care, we offer the highest quality radiation therapy for prostate cancer through a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary approach designed to enhance clinical outcomes where possible.

Radiation therapy for prostate cancer is a term that may encompass several different kinds of treatments, and at our Indiana cancer care locations we treat patients using proven technologies in radiation oncology, including CT Simulation, Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Cone Beam CT (CBCT), Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), and Radiopharmaceuticals.

IMRT treatment is often utilized as a radiation therapy for prostate cancer, as it is a highly-precise treatment can kill cancer cells while minimizing the amount of excess radiation absorbed by the surrounding areas.

A course of IMRT treatment for prostate cancer is typically five days a week—Monday through Friday—for 5 to 9 weeks, with each typical single radiation therapy session taking between 10 to 15 minutes.
